Events and Activities March 2018 - April 2019

Quiz Evening Wednesday 17 April 2019

Thank you to Gill for organising our Quiz evening. We competed in 5 teams and attempted to answer a range of questions including the 60s, Films & TV, General Knowledge and Geography of the British Isles . The arrival of the fish and chips supper part way through was very welcome.

Hagley Group Spring Meeting April 2019

Broome WI hosted the Spring Meeting of the Hagley Group of WIs where we enjoyed an interesting talk by Jessica Armson from the Birmingham Royal Ballet and provided a supper of sandwiches, quiche, salad and cakes for 90 members. Jessica brought the costumes of the Black Swan from Swan Lake and the Nutcracker prince from The Nutcracker and showed several video clips of the work of the BRB including an interview with the retiring Director, David Bintley.

Dance for Fitness January 2019

Our first meeting in the new year was a Dance for Fitness session by Lou Thomas. Lou covered all the main dance steps and we enjoyed participating (or watching).

Christmas Party 2018

30 members enjoyed our Christmas Party. Mulled wine. Excellent food . A couple of humorous readings The twelve days of Christmas with actions. Special secret Santa game.

Presidents appeal

Thank you to all who supported the appeal for Period Poverty products. These will be distributed via the local food bank.

Card Making Evening

With the help of one of our members, Barbara, we entertained ourselves at our November 2018 meeting making Christmas cards. Thank you to Barbara for bringing the materials and for your ideas and encouragment. It was a very enjoyable sociable evening concluding with home made cakes.

Centenary on the Water

On Sunday 16th September 2018 we celebrated the Worcestershire Federation centenary with a canal boat trip on the Blackcountryman from the Bonded Warehouse at Stourbridge to the Vine at Kinver and back. 22 Members plus guests including 4 members from Hagley WI.

Annual BBQ

Sunday 29th July 2018 - Enjoyed by 40+ members and guests. Planned to be at the home of one of our members but moved to Broome Village Hall due to bad weather - the only wet day in the middle of the summer heatwave!
